I was never one to focus on marriage or even being in a relationship growing up. I guess I was so used to being on my own that the thought of sharing my time didn’t interest me that much growing up. It wasn’t that I didn’t have good role models. My family was filled with…

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
There’s a reason for holidays being so stressful, and it’s far from a bedtime story. Holiday stress is overwhelming
I’m Sorry
Saying I’m sorry can be pretty powerful words to say, especially since apologies are a sign of empathy. At the same time, over-apologizing, or excessively saying sorry when you don’t need to could also hurt your self-esteem.
The Silent Treatment
One of the hardest parts of life is the moment that we realize that we are being ignored. For whatever reason, it feels like being ignored seems more scary and intense than having someone argue with you.
Soul Mates
I came to think about what it really meant to have a soulmate. I’m not one that believes that there is just one single person out there, but many if we allow ourselves. There are people with that we will feel a connection, but to hold ourselves to just one person can cause a great deal of unnecessary heartbreak. It instills this thinking that there is this one perfect person out there for each of us. We have accepted the world’s idea of finding true love to mean that there is a match made in heaven.
Seeing Things Differently
In every relationship, there comes a time when problems arise. We just see things differently, and sometimes, we have trouble working things out. It can be between any two people, but the effects of disagreements have the same effect on us.
A Disappointed Heart

It was something that I was taught years ago, but every so often someone will bring about those feelings that I feel frozen, and my heart breaks into what feels like a million pieces. I call this feeling a disappointed heart. Disappointment puts us in a place where we are standing still and we aren’t always sure what to do.
Keeping Love Alive
An all-time favorite movie about a screenwriter who falls in love with a famous bachelor, it’s one of the few movies that I can’t resist watching. There is an excitement and hope that even through the ups and downs of their relationship, in the end, I hope that they will be together. That’s what love is about. Getting through the ups and downs of life and through it all, we remain together. At least this is what I’ve told myself so many times, but the truth feels that we have forgotten about real love and replaced it with the fantasy of being in love. Are we just pushing love away, or is that we have fallen out of the idea of being in love?
Riding a Bike
Life is filled with changes every day. Some of those changes are most difficult to go through than others, but I also think about how that change affects the person’s daily living. What I mean by this thinking is that changing your hair color over changing careers may be easier to manage. It comes down…
A True Measure
I was always under the impression that compatibility was more of a factor. When did logic overrule the feelings that develop into love? I have to question if there is truth to this thinking.
