True Friends

Sometimes realizing who you’re true friends are is the hardest and most unpleasant experiences. It’s a hurtful experience to have to go through, but in the long run, it’s good to know who you can and can’t depend on in life.

Finding True Serendipity

Society has a funny way of making its demands known to people, that at times, it seems challenging to make decisions on our own. One demand, in particular, is that we need to be married. It isn’t often that I meet people who say that they wish to find a good job, buy a home, and stay single. It always seems to be the opposite. They want to find a good job and buy a home and get married. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to be in a relationship or to get married?

I’m Sorry

I began to think about why sorry was used, and I’ve come to realize that it’s probably one of the most over-used words. Why is it that we are at a loss for words, that we turn to an expression that is used to show sympathy or to apologize? It just doesn’t seem to make sense anymore.

Pictures Are Worth a Thousand Words

This weekend, I was looking around my Instagram account and a picture of someone familiar to me came up in my news feed. I felt my heart sink when I looked closer at the picture. Pictures can tell us a lot about people and their relationships.

Living with Courage

Courage is something that so many people want to have in life. It represents character and earns respect, it is symbolic of bravery and self-sacrifice. However, it’s not just about physical bravery. There are other types that range from physical strength, endurance, mental stamina, and innovation. Courage has brought people to follow their dreams, but having the courage to do something, no matter what, can be challenging.

A Disappointed Heart

I rarely find myself disappointed by others. Perhaps it’s because I try to think of the worst situation, but hope for the best.  It was something that I was taught years ago, but every so often someone will bring about those feelings that I feel frozen, and my heart breaks into what feels like a million pieces. I call this feeling a disappointed heart. Disappointment puts us in a place where we are standing still and we aren’t always sure what to do.

Time Flies

Often I hear so many people ask the question: “where does the time go?” It’s not an unusual question, especially with so many graduations taking place during this time of year. I often have to hold myself back from saying what is really on my mind, “time didn’t just slip away, you allowed yourself to become too busy.” I think that this is very true. We’ve trained ourselves to keep our lives filled to the brim with work, errands, and chores. It’s easy to understand why many feel that time has slipped away from them.

Don’t Stop Believing

Don’t Stop Believing-Journey It was back in the eighties when I heard my first Journey song. I can remember hearing the lyrics and the vocals of Steve Perry as he sang songs like Sherry and Open Arms.  These songs brought more than just a good beat for me, but memories of events that had happened…

Making Tough Decisions

Over the years, I have had to make two difficult decisions for me. The first was deciding where I would live, and the second being what type of career that I would pursue. I’ve had to reinvent myself over the years. I went to college to become a private practice counselor. Although instead, I have found my greatest passion to be in writing. My hope is to write full-time someday.

A True Measure

I was always under the impression that compatibility was more of a factor. When did logic overrule the feelings that develop into love? I have to question if there is truth to this thinking.
